BENEFITS OF INTERACTING WITH YOUR DOG

Playing games with your dog has great health benefits than just having fun. Adding play time in your everyday routine can keep them mentally and physically healthy.

Mental Stimulation

Mental stimulation is important for our dogs. It improves their memory and helps them work on their problem solving skills.

For example Playing a game of hide and seek their favorite toy...like an Easter Egg hunt.

Play a game of Hidden Treat under 3 cups. Let them watch as you place a treat under one of the cups. Shuffle them around and then encourage them to 'find the treat.  This game will give your dog more mental stimulation. Another game that you an play is a game of hide and seek their favorite toy.....like an Easter egg hunt.  Or, buy them a puzzle game and help them to figure out how to get the treat.

Good Physical Play

Physical exercise helps release your dogs pinned up energy and stress. It improves circulation,  builds muscle and strength. Spending quality time strengthens the  bond between you and your dog. Dogs who have regular play time are less likely to develop boredom, irritable or aggressive issues. They will less likely tear up your shoes, get snappy or become mean.

At home, throw a toy or ball in the distance and let them run after and catch it.

You can also get some exercise in and chase them around the yard, or let them chase you.

Have them kick a big ball around.

I would say a minimum of two 30 minutes sessions per day of play time would make a huge difference. If your dog requires more exercise, increase the time or take him on walk adventures.

Like us human, we all need to get our and have some fun from time to time. We all need a breath of fresh air. Going to the dog park and letting your dog play with other dog s their size, give them a chance to meet new dogs and make friends.
